  1. OUR MISSION
    • Strengthening environmental governance for maintaining environmental sustainability of the state
    • Integrating environmental aspects in the development processes
    • Investment in environmental management programmes in the state at community level
    • rate a civic movement on upkeep of environmental sustainability.
  2. OUR OBJECTIVES
    • Remembering at all times that we are in service to the people of the State whose welfare is our main motto.
    • Implementation of the policy of the Government of Kerala for the sustainability of development and care for environment.
    • Sustainable use of resources and better natural resource management in tune with developmental needs of the community.
    • Servicing as an agency for sustainable development and conservation of natural resources.
    • Development and implementation of action plan on climate change.
    • Provide services with integrity, transparency and accountability in the best interest of the State.
  3. OUR COMMITMENT
    • Take up State level environmental development programmes and implement them in collaboration with appropriate agencies.
    • Activities related to Action on Climate Change.
    • Administrative responsibilities of all environmentally related institutes being established in the State.
    • Investigate and take appropriate action on complaints related to Environmental (protection) Act 1986.
    • Conduct environment appraisal at planning level related to the developmental schemes of the State Government.
    • Scrutinize the environmental related proposals prepared by Government/non-Governmental organizations.
    • Participate in various environmental technology related activities of Local Self Government Institutions, information on environmental technologies and database systems.
    •  Act as nodal Department to co-ordinate with other departments on matters related to environment, awareness generation, climate change management and Wetland management.
  4. OUR SERVICES
    • Develop, coordinate and cause to implement programme for ecorestoration of wetlands.
    • Develop and cause to implement river action plans.
    • Financially support research & developmental programmes on environmental aspects.
    • Establishing Bhoomithrasena clubs (eco-clubs) in colleges of the State and provide financial support for undertaking awareness and environmental protection activities.
    • Developing schemes for addressing climate change impacts.
    • Oversee and ensure the function of SEIAA & SEAC.
    • Provide support for conducting seminar/workshop etc on environment related subjects.
  5. OUR PERFORMANCE
    • A comprehensive action plan for Periyar River basin prepared through consultants.
    • A programme for sanitation in the catchment of Sasthamcotta Wetland initiated entrusted to Kerala Suchitwa Mission.
    • A programme for ecorestoration of Kappithode in Alleppy district has been undertaken through KSPCB.
    • A programme on sustainable fish stock enhancement and livelihood improvement of Vellayani Lake implemented through ADAK.
    • Bhoomithrasena clubs established in 185 colleges/Higher Secondary Schools across the State with representatives in all districts.
    • Financially supported 16 R &D projects in various environmental aspects.
    • Biodiversity conservation of Kadalundi- Vallikunnu coastal community reserve undertaken.
    • Provided financial support for Marine Turtle conservation programme and estuary management at Kolavipalam.
    • Provide financial support for the construction of Modern abattoirs (slaughter houses) in Kalady and Kumily Panchayat.
    • Provided financial assistance for construction of a Windrow Compost plant in Rajakumari Panchayaths for addressing MSW management.
    • State Action Plan on Climate Change (Draft) prepared and submitted to Government of India with the approval of Government of Kerala.
    • Funded a study on the Carbon Emission reduction on Industrial PSU’s in Kerala.
    • Sponsored a study on community information based resource maps for Vembanad areas through ATREE.
  6. OUR RESOURCES
    • A core group of technically qualified and experienced personnel provide necessary services in ensuring environmental commitments of the Government of Kerala.
